Beijing Cityvision Competition è il sesto concorso internazionale lanciato da Cityvision e fa parte del programma annuale 2014, Evolution: the architecture of future mankind.
Il concorso ha lo scopo di immagine il futuro di Beijing intesa come supercittà (l’unica) che assorbirà le caratteristiche migliori dalle altre città (satellite) e le farà sue per poi rigenerarle secondo un nuovo ed inedito modello globale ed utile per tutti.
Allo stesso tempo il concorso chiede di immaginare chi abiterà questa super realtà e come si saranno evoluti i suoi abitanti. Esisterà una nuova specie risultato del nuovo step evolutivo dopo l’Homo Sapiens?
L’evoluzione “naturale” si è probabilmente conclusa con noi e in futuro saremo il risultato di un’ibridazione bio meccanica e tecnologica che darà inizio ad una nuova fase evolutiva dopo l’Homo Sapiens, che chiameremo Homo Vision.
Nel formulare le loro proposte, i partecipanti devono tener conto dei 3 scenari descritti dalla ricerca annaule – Evoluzione, Involuzione o Estinzione – scegliendone uno o combinandoli tra loro.
Il concorso ha come sempre una giuria d’eccezione che quest’anno vede Ai Weiwei, nel ruolo di presidente, accanto ad assoluti innovatori nei loro rispettivi campi dell’architettura come Greg Lynn, Sou Fujimoto, Eric de Broche des Combes e Sanford Kwinter.

The purpose of the competition is to provide a future vision of Beijing perceived as a Supercity (a unique one) that will absorb the best features from other cities (Satellites), assuming them as her own, and then reinvent itself in the form of a new – and unparalleled – model.
At the same time the competition’s goal is to imagine who will inhabit this Supercity and how will the evolution of its future inhabitants take place.
Will there be a new species as a result of the new evolutionary phase following Homo sapiens?
Our line of “natural” evolution has probably come to an end with us, and in the future our kind will be the outcome of bio mechanical and technological hybridization that will initiate a new phase of evolution called Homo Vision.
Proposals must take into consideration the 3 scenarios described within the annual research – Evolution, Involution or Extinction – choosing one of them or combining.
As usual Cityvision Competition features an exceptional jury panel, this year composed by Ai Weiwei, as jury president, along with undisputed innovators in their architecture fields such as Greg Lynn, Sou Fujimoto, Eric de Broche des Combes e Sanford Kwinter.
