Concorso California Dream Week

CHICO, California, USA, 20 February 2012 — California Dream Week (CADW) has concluded the pre-registration phase of its higher education scholarship awards program challenging high school juniors and seniors in Northern California to dream and propose concepts for a sustainable tomorrow. Registrations during this period are up over 500% compared to the same period in 2010, demonstrating the program’s global appeal for students, high schools, and communities in the California North State. The number of schools with students participating in the current edition already exceeds the total 22 schools with students registered at the end of the 2010-2011 CADW edition.
Students (and their teachers) – in 28 high schools and 12 different counties – who have registered during the pre-registration phase will receive California Dream Week t-shirts, as well as the chance to win a protective case from the program’s featured school sponsor Freshfiber. Freshfiber is Europe’s leading trend setter in sustainable solutions for electronics, and has pledged a sponsorship to help California Dream Week reach students and schools across the California North State.
The California Dream Week organizing committee also made the decision to modify the submission deadline for students. The committee unanimously decided to extend the project submission deadline to February 20, 2012, in response to requests from many high school administrators and educators, while also providing the organization the further opportunity to reach their target goal of 44 schools for the current edition. Students may continue to register up until the project submission deadline of February 20, 2012.
Student winners will receive over $5000 in higher education scholarships and their high schools will receive funds raised during the California Dream Week Festival show week in Spring 2012.
Students from 40 Northern California counties may participate alone or in groups, in up to two of three available categories: Architecture & Interior Product Design, Transportation, and Product Compliments. Scholarship Awards will be assigned to the top three placing projects in each category.
A distinguishing element of the awards program is that winning student projects are shared with professional architects and designers from around the globe. These international personalities in the

design classes in school, as well as students whose only connection to design was through their art programs. Primary judging criteria is focused on factors such as creativity and the demonstration of having studied materials, performance and sustainability,” explains Melisa Lasell, founder of the California Dream Week scholarship program.
